It was the late 1960s and Joyce Byers, an amateur artist with a degree in fashion design, was disappointed in what she was seeing in the stores: aluminum tinsel trees with garish blue lights. May 19, 2008 Open House On May 19, 2008, just like last year,Byers' Choice held an open house. Again, only a few select dearlers, including ourselves, were invited to attend. We were able to choose the carolers we liked and all were signed by Joyce Byers. Joyce also had a few special pieces just for the open house only.
